ClearSplit - Shared Expense Ledger and Bill Splitting App

Application Purpose:

ClearSplit is a shared expense ledger and bill splitting application designed to help roommates, travelers, families, and friends track mutual expenses, scan paper receipts, and settle balances easily.

Google Authentication & Data Usage:

• Why Google Sign-In is needed: We use Google Sign-In to authenticate your identity securely. Connecting your Google account allows us to verify your email, create a secure profile for you, and automatically synchronize your personal and shared expense ledgers across all your devices, ensuring your financial logs are always up to date.
• What Google Data is Accessed: We access your basic profile information (email address, name, and profile picture) to establish your account identity and display your avatar/name to group members in shared ledgers. If you choose to enable the receipt sync feature, we request read-only access to Gmail (`gmail.readonly`) to search and parse Swiggy & Zomato food delivery email receipts.
• How Google Data is Handled: All authentication credentials are handled directly and securely by Google. Basic profile info is stored securely in our database to support session management and device synchronization. Email processing is performed entirely locally on-device. We never share, transfer, or sell your Google user data to any third parties, nor do we use it for advertising, marketing, or profiling. You can request complete account and data deletion at any time.

Limited Use Disclosure:

ClearSplit's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
